An appropriate task analysis forms the technical basis for a procedure. A task analysis consists of reviewing the information requirements, tools needed, order of critical sub-tasks, and necessary safety precautions with the subject matter expert. A strong technical basis ensures that a task is performed according to appropriate safety rules, is efficient, and provides a good basis for ensuring appropriate changes are considered. Too often, procedures are written without a good technical basis and must go through several phases of revisions to be accepted. Developing a proper technical basis is vital for critical safety procedures, procedures to be completed in hazardous environments, or procedures affecting mission critical
systems. |
