Ergonomics Team Training
Overview of the Training Schedule
  1. DAY 1: Complete the Ergonomics Prioritization Information Checksheet (EPIC) analysis based on type of facility (office/non-office/mixed)
    • Risk based analysis of facility
    • Serves as focal points for the ergonomics team
    • Same walkthrough is used to familiarize consultant/trainer with facility and tailor the training
    • Gather and review appropriate policies and procedures
  2. DAY 2 & 3: Provide tailored lecture-style training to team on:
    • Technical aspects of non-office and office ergonomics (as appropriate)
    • Cover assessment techniques in detail
    • Discuss aspects of a successful ergonomics process
    • Cover any legislative issues
  3. DAY 4: Complete on-the-job assessment training
  4. DAY 4: Create Team Charter and Action Plan
  5. DAY 5: Complete a SWOT analysis with the ergonomics team
    • Strengths and weaknesses are within the team and their control
    • Threats and opportunities are external and outside the team’s control
    • Develop action and contingency plans.
  6. DAY 5: Provide awareness training to plant supervisors and engineers
    • Cover basic understanding of ergonomics
    • Roles and responsibilities of each group in managing the process
    • Gather feedback on the SWOT analysis from the ergonomics team
    • Update action and contingency plans accordingly
  7. Let the team "turn over rocks and have the scorpions crawl out"
  8. Six to nine months later, come back and work with the team
    • Perform another SWOT analysis
    • Meet with other stakeholders and develop goals, objectives, and feedback for the team
    • Develop action and contingency plans
    • Work on any "tough cases"
    • Discuss development of business cases
    • Provide some additional technical training, if needed
