Return-to-Work Psychology
Psychological Impact to Others
When faced with a traumatic event experienced by a loved one, the spouse or support network will also go through a type of grieving process. An organization is not immune to this process either. For example, co-workers are often shocked that an accident happened. They are saddened by the pain that their co-worker is going through and possibly angry at the company stating that either the company or supervisor did not take care of a safety problem or asked too much from the worker which added to the cause of the injury. As time goes on the co-workers can begin to feel angry or stressed with the increased amount of work they are having to do. Thoughts of malingering and resentment that the person is getting special treatment can also be an issue.
