Houston, November 6, 1997: The Houston Area Chapter of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society will host the first state-wide chapter meeting at Johnson Space Center on November 15th, 1997. The meeting will consist of invited speakers and several tours of some of JSC's training and research facilities.
The meeting will occur just after "Inspection 97," a three-day in-depth look at the technologies and facilities that Johnson Space Center uses to accomplish its science, engineering, operations, and management challenges. Inspection 97 is open to industry, business, community, and education leaders.
Members from local and student chapters across the state of Texas are invited and are encouraged to bring copies of past and on-going research for distribution to interested parties. For more information, please contact the Secretary of the Houston Area Chapter, Chris Slovacek at 281-483-8124.
The meeting will begin in Building 15, Room 267.

Most likely, everyone will be approaching NASA JSC by heading
south on I-45 from Houston. Continue south until you reach NASA
Road 1. You will need to go under the overpass and then circle
around to the right to begin heading northeast on NASA Road 1.
Continue on NASA Road 1 for about two or three miles (you'll
see Space Center Houston and should be able to see the Saturn
V rocket on it's side). Don't turn into Space Center Houston.
Turn left onto Saturn and get into the right lane. As far as
I know at this point, everyone without a NASA car tag will need
to stop at Building 110.
After leaving Building 110, proceed to Building 15 (see map).
More details will be sent out to those who say they are coming.
The deadline for guaranteed inclusion in the meeting for those
not already badged for JSC is November 10th, 1997.
